Three dogs were rescued by Lee Country Domestic Animal Services after being abandoned for a week or two in a hot Fort Myers apartment.
Officers received the call after neighbors saw the dogs hanging from a balcony on the third floor. The video taken on Sunday morning was circulated showed the dog hanging half of their bodies from a hole they broke in the lanai screen.
It was on a Monday morning, Lee County Domestic Animal Service came to their rescue. Officers were successful to pull the pitbull mix dogs from The Park at Vento apartment.
According to the officials, the apartment was in disarray with trash and clothes throughout. They were able to save one of the dogs from inside the apartment where employees found the AC to be off. The female tricolor pitbull was seen wandering around the apartment freely with her visible hips and ribs.
The employees also stated that the dogs looked malnourished.
During the investigation, dog owner Martinez surrendered and signed the animals to the Lee County Domestic Animal Services.
Now, three dogs are sleeping under a new roof waiting for new pet parents to adopt them.
