Private Firms Lodge Bids for Dog Sterlization Projects

Three private companies have presented bids to carry out dog sterilization as part of the ongoing e-bidding process for a sterilization project in the city. These firms are registered with the Animal Welfare Board, and their applications are currently undergoing technical evaluation.

The Amritsar Municipal Corporation has been attempting to hire a private company for the sterilization project at the Animal Birth Control Centre in Naraingarh for several months. The tender review committee canceled the previous e-bidding process for dog sterilization in April due to a dispute between two firms. Over the past six months, the Municipal Corporation still needs to finalize the tendering process for sterilizing 20,000 dogs.

The latest short-term e-tender was released by the civic body two weeks ago. This e-tender commenced on Friday, attracting bids from three private firms. All three firms that expressed interest in dog sterilization are registered with the Animal Welfare Board of India. The Municipal Corporation’s tender committee is currently evaluating the technical aspects of these three companies.

MC Commissioner Sandeep Rishi stated that the tender committee is conducting a technical evaluation and verifying financial bids. It will be issued once the Local Government Department thoroughly reviews and approves the work order. Commissioner Rishi mentioned that the sterilization of approximately 20,000 dogs would be carried out at an estimated cost of 3.19 crores.
