El Paso Country, Colo. – Officers of Animal law enforcement in El Paso Country risked their own lives and safety for a dog. They saved the dog from the cliff’s side near Fountain Creek.
According to the officials, business owners with a keen eye informed the officers that they recognized something different about the scenery.
“(He) saw a black dot that he has never seen before on the Cliffside”, said officer Elizabeth Barker.
With the use of binoculars, she saw it was not a black dot but instead a dog.
“We didn’t have any rope or anything on our trucks,” said Elizabeth.
Officer and her partner found the horse stable nearby and asked for the rope to get on with their mission to save the dog. “We are all trained to think outside the box,” said Barker.
Using their skills from training, Elizabeth anchored the rope to a nearby fence and tree, she then used the rope to repel down the 50-yard high cliff to the dog.
“When she saw us, she was so happy to see somebody, you could tell. She was very wiggly; she was trying to crawl towards us.”
The ground, Barker said was loose and sandy that made it quite difficult for her footing. She remained intent to get the dog.
However in the end Barker along with her partner were able to get hold of the dog and rescue it safely.
“It really was a great ending, a perfect ending for this story,” said Barker.
