Major in J&K Dies While Saving Dog

On Sunday, shocking news has come out from J&K in the Baramulla district. In which an Army officer died while trying to rescue his own pet’s dog during a fire incident.

This incident took place at the office’s hut in Gulmarg resort where the Army has its several formations, including a unit of High Altitude Warfare School, the police said.

Major Ankit an Army Officer of Signal Corps. Major Ankit made attempts to rescue his wife and two pets. In the first attempt, the officer managed to rescue his wife and one dog from the flames. However, his second attempt to rescue the other dog proved fatal.

The fire was reported at 2:45.

“Around 2.45 am, we received a call that there is a fire. He went inside the burning hut for the second time to rescue his dog, but sustained burn injuries up to 90 percent. He died instantly due to severe burns and suffocation,” a police official said.

Later the firefighter controls the fire and the body of the officer was shifted to sub-district hospital, Tangmarg, for medico-legal formalities.

The police officer said that the Army officer hailed from Jhansi in Madhya Pradesh and he had packed his bags to leave for Srinagar after he got a new posting.

Another Senior Police Officer told that they are investigating the cause of the fire and a forensic team was called to collect the samples.
