LAS VEGAS (KSNV)– The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department investigates a repeat act of animal cruelty.
One more pet dog in the Lakes neighborhood was rushed to a vet after consuming a meatball with poisonous seeds that were thrown into a family’s backyard.
Locals in the Lakes neighborhood think their family pets are once again being targeted.
“She started running and running and then went into a seizure. And the next day, I found this strange thing, kinda like a ball of meat with seeds inside,” said Sandra Elles, who believes her dog was poisoned.
After examining it, Elles quickly recognized it was the same thing six of her neighbors had actually cautioned her of on and off for the last eight years– someone tossing a ball tied with poisonous seeds right into their backyard to kill their pet dogs deliberately.
“I showed it to the vet, and it’s the same seeds in the picture from our neighbors,” said Sean Cornwalls, who in 2019 lost one of his three dogs to toxic meat.
Sandra Elles, as well as her little girl, could not believe it.
“I kinda waited three years after the incident with his dog, hoping that it would be safe to have a dog. It looks like we’re not safe at all. It looks like this person that is poisoning the dogs is still around,” she added.
In the meantime, representatives with PETA state the lakes community must frequently inspect your backyard for anything suspicious and watch your pets very closely when they are outside.
