The government of Bihar has put in request to acquire 20 specially-trained dogs to sniff out alcohol. The canines from Telangana (IITA) would be able to sniff out liquor and help the government strengthen the efforts of the campaign against alcohol in Bihar.
Where will the canines be trained?
The canines will be trained at the Telangana’s Intelligence Integrated Training Academy (IITA) for specifically sniffing out alcohol. After an in-depth and exhaustive search for specially skilled dogs like these, the government of Bihar has turned to Telangana (IITA), where dogs are specially trained to sniff our explosives and liquor.
“The 20 puppies would be trained for 8-9 months at Telangana for smelling liquor and once it is over, they would be drafted to sharpen campaign against illegal stocking of alcohol in Bihar,” said Vinay Kumar, Additional Director General of Police (CID), Bihar.
He added that all the 20 trained dogs will be posted over the four police zones of Bihar i.e., Patna, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga and Bhagalpur.
“If the pilot project is successful, we would requisition more canines from Telangana,” he said.
