Riverside County Animal Services Authorities are investigating two incidents of animal abandonment caught on surveillance video. The video footage shows individuals leaving their pets by the side of the road in Rubidoux before leaving the animals behind.
The Sierra Pacific Furbabies animal rescue organization’s founder, David Loop, stated that they had suspected animal dumping for a while, given the number of dogs and cats that showed up on their property, but they had no evidence until recently. Then, loop discovered a six-week-old puppy trying to hide on his property, and after reviewing the surveillance video, he saw who he believed to be the person who abandoned the puppy.
Loop stated that he saw the vehicle pull up, and the person stepped out into the street, leaving the puppy behind. The second incident occurred last Thursday when Loop discovered a female Rottweiler on his property. The surveillance video showed a silver four-door sedan stopping on the side of the road. The owner then opened the back door, and the Rottweiler jumped out before the vehicle left the area.
Riverside County Animal Services is investigating both incidents in collaboration with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. They are urging anyone with information to contact the authorities.
