The accident unfolded at an American Kennel Club dog show in Tampa before it commenced. According to USA TODAY, a tragic incident occurred at the Florida State Fairgrounds when a fire erupted in an RV transporting valuable boxers, leading to the untimely demise of five dogs. The show happened at the Florida State Fair Grounds from June 14 to June 18.
The flames rapidly consumed the motor home, causing the devastating loss of the show dogs in a parking lot. Hillsborough County Fire Rescue spokesperson Rob Herrin provided this distressing information.
The Sarasota Kennel Club hosted the first of four AKC All-Breed Dog Shows scheduled at the state fairgrounds from Wednesday through Sunday.
According to officials, no human injuries were reported, and investigators initially suspected the fire was unintentional. Herrin mentioned onlookers tried to break into the RV to get rid of the dogs but were discouraged by the smoke.
