A shocking incident has been reported from Farukkhabad in Uttar Pradesh, where a new-born baby was mauled to death by a stray dog inside an Operation Theatre (OT) of a private hospital yesterday (Monday).
The family members of the baby boy said that they noticed the hospital staff shooing a stray dog away from the OT and soon they were told that their baby boy who was born 2 hours ago, was dead.
According to the family members, they rushed the OT and found the baby’s body on the floor with bite marks around the chest, neck, and face.
Hospital Sealed
Manvendra Singh (District Magistrate) has ordered an FIR and the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Chandra Shekhar confirmed that the hospital has been sealed until further notice.
According to the sources, the hospital was not registered and was being run adjacent to a government hospital. As per the FIR lodged with Sadar Kotwali police, the deceased baby boy’s father Ravi Kumar said that he brought his wife Kanchan to the hospital on Monday for delivery where she was taken to the OT for a C-section.
What Happened
After the operation, Kanchan was shifted to the ward but the baby wasn’t. When the family members asked, they were told that the baby is under observation and would be shifted later. However, an hour later, the family noticed the hospital staff shooing a stray dog away from the inside of the operation theatre where their baby was kept.
Soon, the family was informed that the baby had died. After hearing the news, the family members forced their way into the operation theatre and found their baby boy lying in a pool of blood with several bite injuries on the neck, chest, and face.
Police have yet to release the post mortem report of the baby. The FIR has been registered against Dr. Mohit Gupta and some staff members who were present at the time of delivery. The owner of the hospital Mr. Vijay Patel said he is unaware of such an incident and he was told that the baby was born dead.
