This weekend at the Canfield Fairgrounds will be buzzing with people and dogs as one of the biggest dog shows in the country is now scheduled to happen.
Christi Gable of Richfield says, “It’s really well run, beautiful spaces, lots of people staying for the entire time, which is really fun.”
During last year when the COVID-19 pandemic hit the nation, Canfield organized one of the biggest dog shows in the country. Then, however, there were no spectators allowed, and all viewership was digital. But this year, the show is open to the public and is estimated to attract many spectators.
Since yesterday, the dog bathing and styling have already started at the Canfield Fairgrounds.
“We’ve got people from New York, we’ve got people from Michigan, Minnesota, Florida, California — all over the country,” said Phil Thomas, coordinator of Steel Valley Cluster.
Today will mark the official beginning of the Dog Show, and it will run till Sunday. The organizers are expecting at least 2000 dogs on Saturday. There will be motor homes all across the grounds, along with dozen of vendors.
Many dog handlers, owners, and show enthusiasts are excited to showcase their dogs at the event.
“It’s an all-encompassing and really, really attractive… It’s sort of like a living sculpture on some level, but it’s like an awesome pet that you get to love and hug,” Gable said.
The show starts at 8 a.m. every morning, and the entry cost is $5 per car.
