There have been several discussions over the passing of the virus to animals, and now studies have shown that Covid-19 can spread from people to animals during close contact.
On Thursday, India launched the country’s first home-grown Covid-19 vaccine Anocovax for animals. Haryana-based ICAR-National Research Centre developed it on Equines (NRC).
Pets worldwide, including dogs and cats, have been infected with the virus that drives Covid-19, mainly after close contact with people with coronavirus.
Pets that are infected with this virus may or may not get sick immediately. However, pets generally get sick and will fully recover in a few days. Serious illness in pets is infrequent.
In this context, the vaccine news is likely to bring some joy to pet owners, precisely at a time when Covid-19 cases are on the rise again.
