Many dogs live for 8-15 years, so it is always surprising for the owners and is terrific on the same hand to see their pets live in their 20s. One such lucky pet parent is US-based Gisela Shore, whose furry fried the famous Guinness World Records have recognized TobyKeith as the oldest living dog.
The pair share a home in GreenAcres along with two other dogs. Gisela describes her constant companion Chihuahua as “sweet, gentle, loving and my little bodyguard.”
Gisela had no idea TobyKeith would live long and remain so healthy when she adopted him, and she’s glad he has. Clocking up 21 years and 93 days, his adoption papers helped prove his age to officials of the Guinness World Records.
When Gisela was informed that TobyKeith had been awarded the record for the longest living dog, Gisela said, “I love the recognition of knowing that he has had a long healthy life with me as his mommy.” She also added, “We adore him so much, and achieving this record is the testimony of the loving home we have provided for him. TobyKeith is such a blessing. I am so lucky to have him in my life still.”
According to Guinness World Records: “The oldest dog ever reliably recorded was a female Australian cattle dog named Bluey, who reached the grand age of 29 years and five months back in 1939.”
Usually, the longest-living dogs are the smaller breeds, and Chihuahua tops the list. To know more, you can find the best dog breeds with long lifespans.
