Six Pitbulls engaged in dog fights were recovered in Amritsar, along with 21 bikes, two scooters, an automobile, a ten-meter electrical cable, ten tables, and two searchlights.
On Thursday, four individuals were caught in Fatehwal village, part of the Ajnala sub-division, for dog fights. The six dogs they had with them were also saved.
Captain Singh, Sarabjit Singh, Satnam Singh of Fatehwal village, and Amanpreet Singh of Batala are the defendants. Pooran Singh, a former village council, has been arrested, as have three other Ajnala residents.
“The chairperson of the non-governmental organization (NGO) People For Animals, Amritsar, told me that certain people had been organizing dog fights in the area,” said senior superintendent of police (SSP) rural Rakesh Kaushal. A crew was dispatched right away, and the suspects were detained on the spot. Six Pitbulls have also been rescued.”
“Sometimes, the animals are injected with medications in order to win the fight, putting their lives in jeopardy,” he claimed.
At the Ajnala police station, a case was filed under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 420 (cheating), 428 (mischief by killing the animal), 429 (mischief by killing or maiming cattle), and 149 (every member of unlawful activity), as well as sections of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and the Gambling Act.
