FIR Lodged for Hit-and-Run Case, Pet Dog Dies

A pet dog died in a recent event in Ahmedabad, an unidentified car driver hit a nine-month-old pet near a flyover beside Seventh Day Adventist School in Khokhra on Monday during the wee hours.

I-Division traffic police filed a complaint of maiming or killing an animal along with charges of rash driving and endangering the lives of others under the IPC against a man from Navsari.

Mahesh Patel, a traffic police inspector, talked about the incident, saying it occurred when the dog owner Mehul Thakor, a housing resident in Khokhra, took his pet for a walk late on Sunday night.

At that time, a speeding car hit Thakor and his dog while fleeting away. Thakor suffered injuries on his hands, and the dog died on the spot.

Thakor then approached the police and filed a complaint. This is one of the rare incidences where the police have filed a complaint in a hit-and-run incident of killing a dog.

The dog had to go through a postmortem examination while the accused was yet to be arrested.
