Surely, a dog’s day out cum fashion show was organized by Awadh Pet Practitioners Association (APPA) at Dilkusha Lawn on Sunday in Lucknow, where 306 dogs of different sizes and breeds, such as Indian, hound, terrier, utility, etc., took part.
Some did a ramp walk while wearing bow ties, glittering ornaments, caps, clips, ribbons, hair bands, sunglasses, and customized dresses, while others showed their pace and power.
Moreover, 230 dogs were awarded at the end of their day out based on their performance and physical traits.
Several breeds that participated in the show were Akita, Lhasa Apso, German Shepherds, Chihuahua, Rampur hound, Miniature Pinscher, Cocker spaniels, Labrador Retrievers, Argentino, British Bulldog, English Mastiff, Beagle, Pakistani Bully, and other 28 breeds. APPA volunteers have an arrangement for water coolers or air conditioners for the dogs as the temperature was 32 degrees Celsius, which made them whine and snarl.
Priya Shashtri of Mahanagar, who came with her Indian stray dog, stated, “For the first time I’m participating in such an event with Hazel (pooch), and I must admit it was an amazing experience. Hazel came runner up in the fashion ramp walk.” Another dog named Angel’s owner Rubby Umrao said “More such events should be organized in the city, Participants with their pets at the Dog Show organized in the city on Sunday”
The participants who won awards in the show were Ojus, the German Shep created awareness among the residents who are afraid of dogs amid the rise of number of attack cases which has created myths and rumors against them.” “The participants who won awards in the show were Ojus, the German Shepherd owned by Himanshu Soni. Ojus won best breed of the show. Shih Tzu, a toy group breed from Tibet, named Barata and owned by Mohit Kumar came second. Sunil Pandey’ hound Faci (Whippet) was awarded best puppy of the show”
Dr. Rajneesh Chandra, vice chairperson of APPA stated, “The main purpose of organizing this show is to promote the quality and specimen of great breeds. We were glad to see that most of the entries in the show were well-maintained dogs.”
