Hawkins, Texas: Canine Rescue 75765 is a new dog shelter in Hawkins that is looking to help some furry companions.
“There’s nothing worse than coming upon a litter of pups or a dog and knowing their owner has abandoned them,” Sandra McCartney, President of Canine Rescue 75765, said.
They are devoted to assisting stray dogs in the Hawkins area, according to McCartney. This is a rising issue not only in that area but throughout East Texas.
“You may hear about five to ten dogs being discarded in a week’s time,” McCartney said, “and occasionally a pregnant mom and a litter of puppies.”
Since July, the organization has been preparing for the opening of this institution, and it has swiftly become a reality.
Six full-time volunteers work at the shelter, but the organization constantly searches for additional animal lovers to help.
“In the end, our success will be determined by community support, individual donations, and contributions from people willing to come out and assist us feed and water the dogs,” McCartney said. “You can only own so many dogs, so it’s gratifying to know that we can help in some little way to alleviate the situation here.”
Their mission is to get every stray dog adopted and placed in a loving home.
