Dog is still looking for its Home After 4 years at Shelter in Woodford County, US

A sweet dog named Donatello has been waiting for its forever home for a long time now.

As per Woodford Humane Society, this 5-year-old pup has spent four years in the shelter and waiting for a family who can adopt it. It has been the longest resident in the shelter for the past 48 years.

The dog rescue team stated that dogs incoming to shelters are not slowed, but adoption has been slowed down. It is because fewer families desire to adopt, and many dogs have to compete for adoption.

Some factors oppose Donatello’s adoption. Firstly, Donatello is a big dog, a pit bull, and should be a single pet in the home. Unfortunately, these conditions don’t suit the requirement of the homeowners.

Donatello has seen around 1,200 adoption of dogs and puppies in the shelter on their forever home, but its number never came up.

According to the team, this 5-year-old is homely and crate trained. It thoroughly enjoys belly rubs and is a complete lap dog when provided with the opportunity.

Any pet can stay at an adoption center as long as any family takes them. There is no specific limit for stay. So Donatello can wait for a perfect family that treats him as a family member.

After observing countless other dogs find their forever homes over four years, it was determined that he truly deserves the chance to experience that same joy.

To adopt Donatello or any other available pets, don’t hesitate to contact the adoption center at 859-873-5491. In addition, the Woodford Humane Society is operating on an appointment basis.
