A male dog, affectionately known as Bandu, died in a recent fire at a mall in Bhandupled. He had faithfully followed mall security inside the blazing structure. Bandu died of smoke inhalation and was discovered dead early Saturday morning. He was buried within the mall’s grounds.
Several mall shop owners paid respect to Bandu, who has resided at the mall for almost six years.
Bandu was last seen heading inside the mall when the fire broke out on Friday evening, according to a shop proprietor. He had followed security officers since Bandu considered himself a member of the mall’s security team.
He must have lost consciousness due to the smoke within. On Saturday morning, he was discovered dead in the atrium beneath the stairwell. The staff is all heartbroken by his death.
The shop owner went on to say that numerous retailers, including herself, used to feed Bandu and another dog at the mall named Balu.
Bandu, she said, was a highly bright and sympathetic dog. Bandu had howled loudly even during last year’s mall fire here, at a nursing home, because he knew there were people trapped in the fire.
After the devastating fire, both Bandu and Balu had stopped eating properly for a few days.
