China’s Yulin Festival Is Going To Happen | Let’s Stop It

We urge everyone to come forward and help stop this Yulin festival forever!

In China’s Yulin city, every year millions of dogs are dragged, tortured and beaten to death. Their skin is ripped off, bled out, boiled and burned till they die. This is China’s Yulin Festival. Thousands of dogs are expected to end up on a chopping block during the city’s annual dog meat festival, which has become increasingly controversial in China.

We consider them to be man’s best friend, but that’s not the same over the world.

Yulin Festival history

According to Chinese folklore, eating dog meat stimulates internal heat, brings good luck and health. Slaughtering often takes place in front of other living animals to induce pain and fear, which according to some, makes the meat tastier due to the adrenaline rush the animals feel. Other than the slaughter of animals, there are some serious health problems associated with this event.

Most of the dogs are kept in an unsanitary atmosphere which can be a source of many diseases. Some of the dogs, which are often picked up from streets or stolen, could already be carrying all sorts of diseases. This can be potentially fatal for the humans eating it!

Petition to #StopYulinForever

There has been a worldwide condemnation on this festival, even inside China. It’s good to see that people are voicing their opinion against this barbaric tradition. Since 2014, the local government has tried to relinquish all the connections to this Yulin festival and also forbid their employees from participating or attending this festival. Many dog markets and slaughter houses have been shut down but the job is still half done.

There have been numerous petitions – #StopYulin #StopYulin2016 and #StopYulinForever, that received millions of signatures so far. But it still isn’t enough to stop the festival. We all need to come forward and voice our opinions and sign the petitions to put an end to this Yulin Festival.
