On Saturday, the Chandigarh Pet Expo 2024 and 75th All Breed Dog Show commenced at Parade Ground, Sector 17, kicking off a two-day event. From 10 am to 8 pm, the expo will showcase over 500 dogs from 30 different breeds, engaging in competitions assessed by an esteemed panel of eight international judges.
The event is a collaboration between CAT Consult, Chandigarh Kennel Club, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), and the Small Animals Clinicians’ Association (SACA).
Dr. Inderjeet Singh, the vice-chancellor of GADVASU, inaugurated the expo, emphasizing the growing significance of pets in today’s nuclear families. He highlighted the expo as a platform for stakeholders to deliberate on pet welfare issues, serving as a model for bird and animal protection.
Hardeep Singh, the founder and CEO of CAT Consults, noted that the expo offers a valuable opportunity for pet owners to engage with veterinarians and gain insights from the pet industry.
In parallel, Nexus Elante Mall is hosting the “Pet Fed” festival over the same two days, featuring various activities and games to promote pet welfare and celebrate the special bond between pets and their owners. The festival aims to foster greater empathy and attentiveness towards animals while raising awareness about their welfare.
