A brave mother dog tried to protect her puppies from a venomous cobra that was seen attacking her puppies. The dog and her 7 puppies had taken shelter under the staircase of a house at satabhani bazar when a cobra entered in the bunker and bit her two puppies, leaving them dead.
The incident came into notice when the resident of a neighbourhood in Odisha’s Bhadrak woke up to the sounds of ferocious barking and hissing on Sept 18, 2018 night. One of the neighbours managed to capture the whole incident in a video.
In the video, the mother dog can be seen protecting her puppies by barking at the cobra as the snake tries to attack the helpless puppies. The large cobra continued to strike at one of the puppies and left two puppies in an unconscious state.
The person filming the whole incident said, “The snake was already aggressive and in an attacking mode. If we tried to save the puppies it would have bitten us too. So we didn’t risk it.”
The neighbours immediately alerted a local snake rescuer who timely intervened to save the dog and her 5 puppies by pulling the snake out of the bunker using a metal rod.
