A New Way To Travel for Bengaluru’s Pets

No surge pricing! No unreasonable cancellation charges! No twiddling around an app trying to identify where your ride is! A cool dog motorcycle service is trending in Bengaluru.

Yes it’s true. Recently, a man from Bengaluru named, Gowtham Shravan Kumar, has started providing canine transport service via motorcycle across the city. He is armed with a steel black Bajaj Avenger that has a dog carrier fastened to its rear.

A videographer by profession, Gowtham spends his weekly offs from a hectic media schedule to ferry animals across the city. He is not a dog rehabilitator or rescuer, but someone who helps transport pets to places.

In case you’re wondering, who is going to opt for a service like this, we would like to tell you that his services are booked out until Mid-October!

Reason behind dog motorcycle service

Many of us have pets, but no vehicles. We are often faced with challenging situations like when our pets need to be rushed to the vet. Public transport is not as pet-friendly in India as it is in other parts of the world, so hailing an auto or cab means being at the mercy of the service provider.

He realized when he adopted a stray puppy named Chandramoul that he saw getting bullied by older dogs.

“I was married and I had a dog. A crucial time to upgrade your ride, but I could not at the time, so I did the next best thing. Took matters into my own hands and gave the dog carrier a shot,” Gowtham said.

The crate can handle up to 50 Kg.  Gowtham tested it out on a long ride with Chandramouli to Mysore. A journey she completely enjoyed, he says.

No service charges

He charges only for the petrol used, not for the service provided. Why? “I want more people to adopt dogs, and I definitely wanted to help those who struggle with the lack of transport for pets,” says Gowtham.

If you live in Bengaluru and are looking for such a service, you can contact Gowtham on his Facebook Page, Gowtham’s Gyaan!
