It’s your wedding day and all you want is to be surrounded by your loved ones. On your big day, the least you can ask for is the love and support of your family and friends. While for many couples family also includes the pets they share.
While there are many ways in which you can make your dog a part of the celebration– simply as an honored guest or as the ring bearer or as the flower bearer. At the same time, you also need to make sure that it feels comfortable and is not irritated by the time-consuming rituals.
Here are a few ways how you can keep your pet calm throughout the wedding ceremonies.
1.Correct temperament = correct behaviour
Before anything else, judge your dog’s temper correctly, find out if he is aggressive or friendly. After all, you don’t want to run after your dog to make him behave well. But, remember, you cannot train your dog for a certain role in the weeks prior to your wedding.
So, instead of trying that and wasting your time and mood, detect your dog’s correct temperament and assign roles accordingly. And watch them be the cutest attraction on your big day!
2. Not well behaved? No need at all
We know you love your dog, but definitely, certain behaviors of him are not cute. I mean, you might find them cute but your guests may not.
If you know that your pet is not very well behaved, which is absolutely fine, cause no one is perfect, not even they. It’s wise not to add them to your wedding.
Remember, a forced action can have grave consequences. You will definitely not feel good leaving them back home, but that would be the best solution if you fear your dog being a nuisance.
3. Understand the venue
You love your dog, they love you back- that’s a simple equation. But, every equation is not that simple. Neither is everyone going to pamper your dog. Many people are also allergic to animal furs.
Thus, to keep things safe and avoid unwanted situations, there are a lot of venues that restrict the entry of dogs. If you are decided upon carrying your dog along to the wedding venue, choose your venue wisely. Have a talk with the site manager and check if your pet will be welcomed.
4. Understand your dog
We humans can easily adapt to our surroundings, but our pets lack that expertise. You cannot simply pressurize them with all that you want.
Understanding their mood and capability is very important. If you are determined in taking your dog along, check the type of environment he would be comfortable in. There is no point in suffocating him in an environment he loathes.
5. Style ‘em up
Take your pet for a makeover before your wedding and reveal their stylish side. If you plan you accessorize them, make sure you don’t end up suffocating them. Choose comfortable garbs and try it a few times on time prior to the day. So that, he gets used to it and does not feel uncomfortable.
Well, if he does feel so, surrender all plans and opt for a simple collar. He might feel at ease in it.
6. Choose a handler
Your pet will definitely play an important role in your wedding. But probably won’t be able to take his full care. Thus, it’s better to assign someone as a caretaker of your pet. Obviously, it has to be one your pet is well acquainted with.
7. Inform your guests
Well, it’s simple, not everyone gels well with pets around. So, instead of shocking them on a respective day, inform them beforehand. Some vendors and attendants may refuse to work with dogs around.
8. Prepare them
Take your pet on a regular visit to the wedding venue. As dogs like to sniff, they can smell and get acquainted with the venue and will not create undesired hazards on a particular day.
9. Rehearse
Chalk out the plan very well. Make sure you are certain about the role that your pet is going to play in your ceremony. Also, rehearse the same with them quite a few times so that they understand what they need to do.
Have a talk with your wedding planner and express your desires. Do not create a situation where your pet feels nervous and left out.
10. Prepare for the worse
Even after rigorous planning, things can go wrong. So, it is not surprising that even after plannings your dog might just not feel like acting the way you taught him to.
Never mind, you need to prepare yourself well to handle such unwanted situations. Make sure you have a backup plan ready.
Before you choose your pet to be the ring bearer or the flower bearer, keep them under proper care and pamper them a lot. Your pets can turn out to be the cutest attraction of your wedding.
