Authorities in Oklahoma reported a 7-year-old boy was fatally mauled by his dog last week.
When deputies arrived at the home, south of Kiefer, where the claim originated, “a family member spotted the child on the property,” according to the report. According to a statement from the Creek County Sheriff’s Office, the toddler was allegedly mauled by a family pet (dog).”
According to the statement, the boy died at 7:35 p.m. that night. His father discovered him dead.
In the investigation, the sheriff’s office claimed it cooperated with the state medical examiner’s office.
She stated the dog, a stray corgi mix, had been with the family for around three weeks before the event. She claimed it had never displayed signs of hostility before.
The family was “devastated” and in “disbelief.”
The dog was sent to an animal control facility, according to the sheriff’s office. It was unclear whether it had been euthanized on Tuesday.
