The Houston Humane Society stepped forward to rescue 22 dogs after the owner was found dead inside a home in Harris County. Law enforcement officials made this distressing discovery during the welfare check on September 27.
The animals were found in a very distressed condition that was far from ideal.
During the welfare check, officers found the 22 dogs in distress. Some even suffered from bacterial skin infections, overgrown nails, old wounds, and flea infestations.
The unfortunate situation led the authorities to suspect that the owner had been dead for about two weeks, based on the overwhelming odor of the decay. The responders described it as ‘unbearable’.
In response to the dire situation, the animals were immediately removed from the home and transported to the Houston Humane Society. At the animal shelter, they also received attentive and prompt care from the medical staff. The staff effortlessly provided round-the-clock treatment and care to help them recover from the injuries.
Once they are healed fully, all 22 dogs will be available for adoption.
