A complaint has come up against Chengamanad police for allegedly hitting the pet dog while on a visit to the house of an accused person on Saturday evening. According to the petitioners, a policeman hit the dog. It died soon after the accident.
The police are denying the allegation, however, Jijo Thankachan who owns the dog admitted that his brother Justin was indeed in conflict with the law. Later, he also states that this was no reason for the policeman to attack his dog.
According to Police, the allegation could be a trap for them, and they just went to serve a summon to Justin in a case. The police also added that there have been incidents in the past as well where the dogs were unleashed when policemen go to look for culprits.
Meanwhile, animal rights activist Sachithra Soman said that she visited the house. She informed me about the dog’s body being kept in a refrigerator to ensure that the autopsy takes place.
