Pebbles, The World’s Oldest Dog, Passes Away Aged 22

Pebbles, the Toy Fox Terrier who held the record for the oldest living dog, has passed away.

On Monday, 3 October 2022, Pebbles peacefully passed away from natural causes at her home in Taylors, South Carolina. According to a release from Guinness World Records, pebbles passed away naturally just five months before turning 23.

Pebbles, born on 28 March 2000 in Long Island, NY, USA, took the world by storm when news of her age made headlines. GWR said the information about Pebbles being the world’s oldest dog shocked the globe when the news went viral.

Pebbles broke all the last records of the oldest living dog, TobbyKeith, when the Gregory family discovered that it could be older than that.

As mentioned by GWR, Mrs. Gregory stated, “Bobby was sitting on the couch, and friends and family started texting and calling about a story they saw about a 21-year-old dog getting the record.”

GWR further stated, “When I saw TobyKeith’s story all over the news, I applied,” she added.

Pebbles lived a happy and long life, according to Mrs. Gregory. It was the queen of the household. Together with its late mate Rocky a Toy Fox Terrier, who passed away in 2017 at 16, Pebbles gave birth to 32 pups throughout three different litters.

Mrs. Julie Gregory wrote in a press release, “She spent her days enjoying country music and being loved.”

She also added, “She enjoyed trying new foods, she was pampered, and most of all, she was loved.”

Pebbles was put on a cat food diet in 2012 as it has more meat-based protein than dog meals. However, on rare events, like the celebration of her 22nd birthday, the Gregory family would let Pebbles enjoy treats like a plate of ribs. According to Mrs. Gregory, giving her pup lots of love and care was the key to her puppy’s long life.

“Pebbles will be remembered for her appreciation of country music and her love for summertime and, of course, for being a world record holder,” GWR further added.
