The Boykin Spaniel is a medium purebred known for being energetic, friendly, intelligent, loving, and responsive. To keep it healthy, it will need to get exercise regularly. Known to be multi-talented, the Boykin Spaniel participates in a wide variety of activities such as agility, hunting, obedience, search and rescue, and tracking.
The Boykin Spaniel carries a unique set of credentials that no other breed of canine can honestly claim. He is a dog originally bred by South Carolina hunters. He was developed initially as the ideal dog for hunting wild turkeys in the Wateree River Swamp during the early 1900s and now beautifully adapts to the dove fields, the duck marshes and the home fires of his modern-day masters.
Most individual Boykin Spaniels have a special personality and enthusiastic field ability that no other dog can match. The Boykin is larger than the Cocker Spaniel, with smaller, higher set ears that are covered with long, wavy hair. He has considerably less hair and a straighter muzzle.

Boykin Spaniel are healthy and sturdy breed . Generally a dog takes around 18 months to reach his or her full height and structure. It is advisable to breed your dogs after at least two years of age.
