Almost a month ago, a CCTV footage went viral on social media showing a man stabbing stray dogs outside Green Park Metro station in south Delh. Recently, this serial dog killer was identified as Nakul Mishra – A 28 year old NIT Delhi graduate, who fled from Delhi, when the CCTV footage of dog killing went viral and caused an uproar among citizens living around the area. He left his rented room in south Delhi’s Yusuf Sarai area and shifted to his aunt’s residence in Mayur Vihar for few days before leaving for Lucknow.
As reported by a police official, Nakul has been suffering from depression and was on medication. He was sacked from his job, which resulted in a relationship break up with the girl he wanted to marry. His pet dog had also died recently, the cause of it is still unknown yet.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police (south), Mr. Ishwar Singh said. “He was arrested on Friday from Alam Bagh in Lucknow after police got specific inputs about his location. He was brought to Delhi on a transit remand.”
Nakul has been booked on charges of mischief by killing an animal under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. His act and style of killing dogs made him infamous as the serial dog killer in Delhi.
During interrogation, he admitted to stabbing the dogs after feeding them. He also told the police where he hid the knife and the clothes he was wearing that night. However, he doesn’t know what made him commit this heinous act. His case has been referred to medical board for psychiatric intervention.
HSI (Humane Society International) has demanded jail time along with psychiatric assistance for the accused!
