Sanjay Gandhi Animal Care Centre (SGACC)

It is Asia’s oldest and largest animal shelter. It was founded in the 1980s from a heritage passed on by the late Mrs. Ruth Cowell of New South Wales, Australia to Sanjay Gandhi. Ruth foundation created this memorial foundation to resolve to require animal care shelter in India and its surrounding area. It consists of a 24×7 rescue facility, home, treatment, and rehabilitation.

It also provides training for vet and animal handlers, burial service, run OPD, diagnostic services, holding center for animal cruelty cases. At any given point, its capacity is over 3000 animals. TIS Hazari Veterinary Hospital

It is Delhi’s first-ever government animal hospital. Initially, it was functional from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm. Then it started operating 24×7. The doctors work three shifts from 8 am to 2 pm, 2 pm to 8 pm, and 8 pm to 8 am.

After the shift time became 24 hrs., the animal coming for treatment increased by 50 percent from 80 per day to 120 to 130 per day. It is a part of the “Animal Health and Welfare Policy, 2018” project by the government of India. It consists of an old-age home for animals.

Jeevashram

Jeevashram started in 1990 at Rajokri village in New Delhi. They are engrossed in reducing the stress and mishandling of humans on the animal. They are affiliated with the Animal Welfare Board of India and associated with the RSPCA-UK. They are also involved in the birth control program of stray animals.

They are 1st institute that has a burial ground, according to Limca Book of Records. They arrange an educational program for children crucial for animal cruelty prevention. Jeevashram is a hospital for big and small animals with a medical facility.

Pet Animal Welfare Society

Pet animal welfare society is a private, registered, nonprofitable organization dedicated to preventing animal cruelty. It is recognized by the Animal Welfare Board of India Govt. of India. The society was established in 1998, and its motto is to create awareness on care, nutrition, and management for pet and stray dogs.

Paws organize the anti-rabies program and other various awareness programs around Delhi and its surrounding areas. They also drive birth control programs. PAWS is strictly against animal cruelty. The organization fights against the use of animals in the lab and circus.

PAWS is for the conservation of wildlife and cognizance program of the animal laws of the country. They run a low-cost sterilization and vaccination center. They also provide adaptation.

Animal India Trust

Animal India Trust has a clinic for immunization, vaccination, and first aid assistance. Opening hours are Monday to Saturday, 9 am to 5 pm. They drive a birth control program in Tuglaqabad veterinary hospital. Along with the Government of India, they drive a prevention campaign of dog bites and rabies under the project “Rabies free India”.

It is a private organization. It is dedicated to providing sanctuary for homeless dogs. Hence, providing the best care for old-age dogs and disabled dog is their objective. They have a special pet care clinic.
