Hyderabad: Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has initiated street dog adoption to check the street dog menace in the city and get a good response from citizens.
On Sunday, the Mayor, G. Vijaya Laxmi, stated in a statement that they are getting a positive response from residents to the initiative and adopting the street dogs. “The response is good across all the GHMC circles,” she stated.
Joint Commissioner Uma Prakash also participated in this program and gave street dogs to residents who took the initiative to adopt them in the Malkajgiri circle of the Secunderabad zone.
The civic body’s sanitation workers also participated in the program. In a similar program initiated in the old city, Joint Commissioner A Sailaja, Charminar zonal commissioner Samrat Ashok, and others participated.
GHMC has also initiated to stop throwing non-veg wastes from stores to prevent street dogs from flocking around. The Mayor stated that notices were issued to meat stall owners at Yakuthpura, Talabkatta, and other places.
