Powai Watchman Booked For Beating A Stray Dog Taking Shelter In A Parking Lot

Another dog cruelty incident has come to light from Powai in Mumbai. A stray dog was mercilessly beaten by a watchman at L&T Emerald Isle Complex.

The Powai police have booked the watchman after a video of the beating went viral. A resident of the same society complex shot the video of the assault on the animal. It happened in the parking lot of the society.

The AWBI (Animal Welfare Board of India) and PAWS (Plant & Animals Welfare Society) members lodged a complaint against the watchman after the video went viral.

An officer of Powai Police Station stated,

“The security assaulted the female dog after she was found resting in the parking area of the complex to avoid rains. The dog was later taken for treatment.”

The graphic video shows the accused mercilessly beating the stray dog and kicking her repeatedly. The watchman has stated that he was asked to beat the dog by some residents of the society. The Police are trying to ascertain who was involved with the incident. The society body has condemned the act and terminated the contract with the security agency.
