Navi Mumbai: The much-awaited dog park was finally inaugurated in Vashi, inside the Veer Savarkar Municipal Garden, Sector 8. Divya Gaikwad, a Former Vashi corporator, had initially presented the concept of a specialized dog park before NMMC in 2017. Still, due to inevitable administrative delays, the park could only be opened for people and their pets now.
Maharashtra MLC, Shashikant Shinde, was the chief guest for the inauguration of the dog park. “The park is built in an area of 900 sq meters, at Rs 26 lakh. Various animal-friendly equipment, such as a doggie ladder, tunnel, slope, etc., has been installed in the dog park.
Many pet owners have started visiting this park since it is rather difficult to walk your pet by the roadside during heavy traffic hours,” said Gaikwad. Animal poop bins have also been installed here for cleanliness.
Civic officials informed that more animal-friendly parks might be built in other city nodes like Nerul, Belapur, and Airoli. Moreover, some pet corners are operational in areas like Palm Beach road. However, this is a fully devoted dog park for the benefit of pet owners.
