MarketBrew beer collaboration raises $25K for local dog rescues

A total of $25,000 has been donated to two local dog rescues as a result of a limited-run collaboration beer last month.

Nearly 15,600 cans of Marketbrew, created by MarketBeat and Remedy Brewing Company, were sold to distributors across Sioux Falls, respresenting the most beer of a single brand that Remedy has sold in a month, according to Remedy co-owner Tyler Jepperson.

“We’re thrilled to accomplish this through our collaboration with MarketBeat and remain impressed with the way our combined teams worked to achieve this logistical feat,” Jepperson said in a statement. “It’s a big win for our community and everyone involved.”

The two businesses brewed 25,000 cans of the hoppy wheat ale with intentions to have MarketBeat donate $1 to B-Squad Dog Rescue and Sioux Empire Pit Rescue for every can sold. While total donations exceed MarketBeat’s original pledge, the remaining supply of the beer can be found on tap and in stock at local retailers.

The goal of the campaign was to drive awareness and financial support to the non-profit organizations.

“The MarketBrew campaign results far exceeded our expectations,” said Sioux Empire Pit Rescue Event Coordinator Maria Chalaire in a statement. “We are incredibly grateful for this collaboration opportunity. Not only will the generous gift from MarketBeat help us take in and save more dogs, but our community learned more about our organization, our mission, and how they can help us achieve it as a result of this collaboration. We believe the connections established by MarketBrew will continue to benefit our organization over time, which is what makes this kind of giving so remarkable.”

For B-Squad, the fundraiser was a “difference between life and death” because of an increase in emergency services for rescued dogs.

“These dogs would have been euthanized without our commitment to pay for their care, and the money from MarketBrew will go directly to paying for these costs,” said B-Squad Director Mandi Haase. “Paying down that balance will allow us to continue our commitment to these cases of local dogs in need.”

The collaboration came off the heels of the MarketBeat Burger collaboration for the annual Downtown Sioux Falls Burger Battle competition, which raised $31,000 for Call to Freedom.

“MarketBrew is the fusion of philanthropy, creative branding, and community partnerships,” said Matt Paulson, MarketBeat Founder and CEO. “By collaborating with Remedy, we created an opportunity to support two local businesses and two local non-profits with a single purchase. For the broader community, I hope this project serves as an example of creative philanthropy that others can model in the future.”
