Recently, a 30-year-old man, Abhishek Ingle from Nagpur was arrested on Friday midnight for brutally kicking a 2-month-old stray puppy to death. He also assaulted the woman who was taking care of the stray puppy.
The pictures of pup went viral on social media. According to eyewitnesses, the puppy was hit so hard that its intestines popped out.
The puppy stayed in their society who was taking care of by a 25-year-old lawyer, Kanika Pandey.
“Abhishek took away the pup in his car and despite my repeated attempts, his mother did not give me his telephone number,” said Pandey who then contacted animal activist Aparna Modak.
Modak said that the activist she sent to help Pandey were eyewitnesses to Ingle’s brutality.
Meanwhile, Pandey stopped Ingle who had returned to the society to learn about the puppy.
“We had an argument during which he physically abused me,” she told TOI.
After the incident, Pandey took the help of an animal activist Aparna Modak, and lodged a complaint at Gittikhadan police station against him.
Later accused released on bail
The accused was released on bail of Rs.15,000 after being charged with cruelty to animals as well as for assaulting a woman.
FIR lodged
A first information report (FIR) lodged under IPC sections 354, 429, 509, 504, 506 and relevant sections of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960. Police officials said that statements of eyewitnesses will be taken to further investigate the case.
