ITBP Women Lead Ponies and Dogs as Captains

For the first time ever, the 8 Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) personnel have become the first women dog handlers and pony transporters in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) of India.

The women have formed a special link with their horses and dogs, raising them to become obedient soldiers. Their K9 teams, which will be used as Patrol Explosive Detection Dogs, will be led by dog handlers who have undergone rigorous training. (PEDD).

Along with learning how to ride horses, these ladies also received instruction in horse management, loading horses, and various aspects of moving laden horses. Now, they will be stationed wherever its daring warriors can spot explosives and confront foes in Maoist strongholds in eastern and southern India.

The female staff members finished their training for handling dogs in January of this year, and they will finish their training for transporting animals this weekend. Ishwar Singh Duhan, the Inspector General of the ITBP’s Basic Training Center in Bhanu, said that the new recruits underwent tough training by getting along with their puppies.

The puppies underwent three months of basic obedience training to learn how to obey directions. Finally, they spent three months on explosive detection. They received training for at least six hours every day. The officer claimed that because women are more compassionate and loving by nature than men, dogs are more eager to obey their voice commands.

After graduating from the ITBP National Training Centre for Canines (NTCD) at the Basic Training Center (BTC), Bhanu, near Panchkula, the ITBP women will deploy with their loyal Malinois canines. (Haryana). According to an officer, these adorable canines are Tuffy, Rony, Spark, Axl, Charlie, Juli, Merry, and Anny.

Since NCTD was established by the ITBP at Bhanu, around 2,500 dogs of various forces have been trained here.
