Hunt For Tiger Goes On With 2 Elephants And 3 Dog Squads in Tamil Nadu

The two kumki elephants from the Theppakadu elephant camp in Mudumalai Tiger Reserve (MTR) and three more dog squads on Sunday joined the ongoing operation to capture the problematic tiger at Masinagudi in the Nilgiris.

The mission was to tranquilize/capture the big cat. During the beginning of the operation, the exercise of tracking the pugmarks was conducted but it went in vain. The Wayanad and Nilgiris team besides STF personnel, all comprising 150 personnel, were divided into 3 groups, and a search operation was held according to the forest officers.

Apart from that sniffer’s dogs including Jocky, Rana, and other and few local breeds were brought to the location. Each sniffer dog was accompanied by its respective trainers while on the search operation.

The hunt for the tiger is still going on as it continues to kill.
