Dog Trapped Underground for Six Hours, Gets Rescued

The rescue story of a dog stuck underground for almost 60 hours has spread joy and cheer. After getting a distress call about Winston, the black cocker spaniel, Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Services started their work.

The adventurous canine was around taking a stroll with its owner in Coalville, North West Leicestershire, when he wandered into a Badger’s sett, a network of tunnels and dens where the other animals reside.

After a part of the tunnel caved in around the Winston, the owner called emergency service. Although, it was tough for the rescue operations to operate for 48 hours because badgers and their setts are protected by law.

Once the rescue began, the teams started using specialist tracking and listening devices to find Winston inside the narrow and dark tunnels. However, the initial strength wasn’t enough, and firefighters ended up calling in reinforcements to help them with digging more.

Lastly, the team finally saw the dog popping its head out from the hole. The poor pup was frozen in fear until it reunited with its owner.
