Skeptics questioning the effectiveness of legal measures need not search far for evidence, as demonstrated by the case of Bhadresh Pandya in Ahmedabad.
The dog owner was sentenced to a one-year prison term on Friday following incidents where his Doberman bit and assaulted neighbors. One of the victims took action, restraining the 54-year-old with a legal leash.
The unprecedented ruling from an Ahmedabad session court also imposed a fine of Rs 1,500 on Pandya. Additionally, the court instructs the legal service authority to determine and provide suitable compensation to the victims.
Pandya has been given a 30-day deadline to surrender. The case, initiated by neighbor Avinash Patel, claims that Pandya’s unleashed Doberman attacked Patel, his son, nephew, and another child in 2014, resulting in Patel sustaining injuries.
