Recently, an ugly garbage dump was converted into a dog park named “Domlur Dog Park” near the CPWD Housing Colony, HAL Airport Road Bengaluru.
3 weeks ago this pet park was an illegal garbage dump. But with the help of the “Ugly Indian Group” volunteers and proactive residents of Domlur and Indira Nagar, this 5,000 sqft of land owned by BBMP (Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike) was given a much-needed makeover and got transformed into a well-planned dog park.
Domlur Dog Park
Domlur dog park has been created in a 5,000 sqft land and the best part is the dogs love it! They thoroughly enjoy running off-leash in the safe and protected environment of the park. It also has a compost pit in a corner where dog owners are expected to dump their dogs’ excreta.
Deepten Sarkar, a resident of the area said, “I have a one-year-old super-energetic German Shepherd. It’s next to impossible to walk him along the road with vehicles passing by. When we take our dogs to a regular park, we are often told to leave as it is against park rules. So something like this is a solace to all of us.”
What happens to the dog waste?
The Poop Pit is managed with mud to avoid any foul smell and this creates manure for the park. A volunteer also created a small play area with a few tyres. They also built several benches for dogs and their owners to sit around.
