Molly, an indomitable mom, is currently recovering in the Mutternity Suites at the Arizona Humane Society (AHS) after enduring a traumatic birthing experience.
According to the rescue organization, the Mutternity Suites serve as a supervised area where pregnant and nursing dogs can safely give birth and care for their puppies, providing necessary medical attention.
Molly’s story came to the attention of the Arizona Humane Society when a local emergency animal clinic admitted the homeless dog, heavily pregnant and suffering from a rattlesnake bite. Upon the arrival of AHS’s Emergency Animal Medical Technicians™ (EAMT), Molly had already received antivenom treatment and had given birth to three puppies.
With prompt action, the EAMTs swiftly placed Molly, a one-year-old rescue, and her newborn pups into their pet ambulance, expediting their transfer to AHS’ trauma hospital for further treatment. Molly astonishingly welcomed two additional puppies during the journey to the hospital, demonstrating her remarkable resilience.
Upon reaching the hospital, Molly and her five puppies underwent thorough medical examinations. Subsequently, they were settled into the comforting environment of AHS’ Mutternity Suites, where Molly delivered two more puppies. The family of eight is recuperating and forging a bond in the peaceful surroundings of the Mutternity Suites.
Molly and her one-week-old puppies are in good health after encountering the rattlesnake and the eventful birth. The entire canine family will continue to receive comprehensive care at the Mutternity Suites until they are prepared to transition into a foster home.
While Molly relishes her well-deserved respite, she is not the sole mother benefiting from the facilities of the Mutternity Suites. Two other new mothers also share the space, collectively nurturing 22 puppies.
