In the past one year more than 1.71 lakh stray dogs have been vaccinated in 5 districts of Haryana. Moreover, 39,033 stray dogs were sterilized in Hisar, Bhiwani, Fatehabad, Jind and Sirsa districts during the same period.

This was disclosed in a meeting of state level monitoring-cum-coordination committee held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary D.S. Dhesi on Friday to review progress under the Animal Component of National Rabies Control Programme,
The stray dog anti-rabies vaccination programme is being implemented by the Union health and family welfare ministry through the Animal Welfare Board of India.
It was informed in the meeting that in the initial stage, the sterilization and vaccination programme had been launched in Hisar division comprising five districts.
Vaccination programme valid till March 31,2017
An agreement was signed with non-governmental organisation Humane Society International (India) for this purpose. The agreement is valid till March 31, 2017.
It was informed that the budget provision of Rs 30 crore has been allocated for the implementation of the National Rabies Control Programme in the state.
