The Panchkula Municipal Corporation had issued a public notice on October 30 last year, asking dog owners in the district to register their pets within 30 days. However, only 341 pet dogs have been registered so far.
After receiving a bad response from residents, Municipal Corporation officials have decided to start a survey to find out the residents who have not registered their pet dogs yet. They also said that a penalty will be imposed on these people.
P’kula MC Commissioner, Rajesh Jogpal said that the directions have been issued to hold a survey and the civic body would also take help of the Kennel Club in Chandigarh in this exercise.
The registration will be done as per section 311 of the Municipal Corporation Act-1994.
Currently, the MC does not have an official exact count of pet dogs in the city. They plan to issue a registration number and provide a brass token with the number engraved on it.
