Mumbai: Man Booked for Negligence After His Pet Dog Bites Teen

Mumbai: On March 23, a man was booked for negligent conduct regarding animals after he allegedly unleashed his adopted stray on children playing in the building premise at the plush Brighton Tower at Second Cross Road in Andheri (West).

In the incident, Siddhant Gupta (14) (Son of film producer Ketan Gupta) was bitten by an adopted stray while playing in the society compound with his friends at around 9.30 pm. Oshiwara police have yet to arrest the accused, Rajkumar Shahabadi, booked under the bailable crime.

Gupta and the society members have alleged that this was the third such incident that has taken place on the building premises. “Last year in May, Shahabadi’s adopted dog bit two people.

An FIR was registered against him then. My son is the third victim. Shahabadi’s pet dog attacked him. My son’s condition is stable after the dog bit him badly.

He had a lucky escape. However, my son is totally shaken due to the incident,” Gupta told TOI. He said a CCTV camera from the building had captured Shahabadi opening the gate and the dog charging at the teen. “It is not the dog’s fault, but the owner should be careful,” Jain said.
