A man on Thursday was arrested on the charges of torturing his ‘pet’ dog. Police have arrested the man based on a complaint filed by the NGO – People for Animal Welfare Services (PAWS).
Preethi Sreevalsan of PAWS said, “We had received a video of Suresh indulging in mindless cruelty towards the dog. According to the information received by us, Suresh was allegedly torturing the dog almost every day.”
K Anudas, the SI at Peramangalam station, said Suresh was arrested under the Prevention of Cruelty Against Animals Act. He was released on bail. Preethi mentions that the video was posted by someone who had seen the torture directly and was shared widely on social media platforms. According to the police, Suresh reportedly tortured the dog under influence of liquor.
