Seems like we are reporting one animal cruelty case every day now! Another case of animal cruelty has come to light. Recently, a 24-year-old man, Haroon Khan was thrashed by public for beating a stray dog with an iron rod in Mumbai. The whole incident was captured on the CCTV footage of a residential building on Saturday.
The stray dog named Dabbu by locals, has suffered a skull fracture and is in a critical state. The accused, Haroon Khan is a resident of Rizvi building in Kalinai. Surekha Kharat, 52, an animal lover who fed the stray dogs in the area saw the incident and checked the CCTV footage to find Shaikh picking up an iron rod and beating the stray dog on its head.
What happened?
The stray dog was quietly passing by when Khan took an iron road and cruelly started thrashing the dog. The dog collapsed instantly and was rushed to Parel Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA).
“We feed Dabbu every day and he is friendly. We rushed the dog to a veterinary clinic for treatment and later shifted him to SPCA at Parel,” said Kharat.
The police has arrested the accused
Dattatray Khade, Police Sub Inspector, Vakola police station said,
“During investigation we found that the accused had hit the stray dog with an iron rod. We arrested the accused under section 429 (Mischief by killing or maiming cattle) of the IPC and under relevant sections of the Prevention of Animals to Cruelty Act.
