Heroic Hound: Japanese Dog Saves Heart Attack Victim at Riding School

Saving someone’s life requires prowess, instant action, and generosity. But have you ever imagined a dog with all these qualities?

Well, we have Kourne for you. The dog has everything to help save life of a person suffering with a heart attack.

Kourne, a 5-year-old canine, is bestowed with a heroic status for courage and quick action.

She alarmed the staff with her continuous bark after she noticed some changes in the man.

As per the riding club, on February 25, a 50-year-old man collapsed. When Koume, a mellow mutt, saw this, she started barking constantly to raise the alarm. People heard her bark and rushed to the riding park to the man’s aid.

“Heart attack patients can be saved after giving them treatment at the right time. It is crucial to alert people on the slightest change,” the Wakaba Fire Department said.

A 23-year-old riding instructor who helped this man stated, “Kourne is an easygoing canine and most of the time she is calm and barks only in unusual conditions or in any emergency.”

Kourne’s barks alerted the staff to take quick action. They called the ambulance, and an automated external defibrillator was used on the rider just in time for paramedics. So again, a little courage and activeness helped to save this man from cardiac arrest.

The man has returned to the club after a full recovery. In addition, the club has employed female pooches as “mascots” to greet members. It is not the first time Koume acted bravely, but earlier alerted the club when a horse was trying to escape the facility, and in another incident, the old horse was unable to stand on his own.

Last month, at a special ceremony, local fire officials gave an official letter of appreciation to Koume for her incredible work at a horse riding club in Wakaba-ku, Chiba City.
