Medicos to pay a fine of Rs. 2 Lakh each in Chennai Dog Torture Case!
A few months ago, two Chennai medical students flung a 6 month old puppy from the roof of a building. Now, they’ll have to pay a compensation of Rs. 2 Lakh each to the Animal Welfare Board of India.
The video of the dog being thrown from the terrace went viral, forced the police to file a case against the culprits and arrest them.

Chennai police arrested both the culprits Gautam Sudarshan and Ashish Paul but they were freed on bail instantly by the Sriperumbudur Judicial Magistrate court. Even after the video evidence and so much of public outrage, the culprits couldn’t be brought to justice.
Rescuers Demanded Justice In Chennai Dog Torture Case
The rescuers of the dog moved to Madras High Court seeking compensation for the animal besides medical care and punishment of the culprits.
The Madras High court ordered the Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University, constituted four-member team, comprising Dr S V Senthilnathan – Dean of Students, Dr Parameswari – Controller of Examination, G Kannabiran -Law Officer and the Registrar to go into the matter and take appropriate decision.
The team decided to impose Rs. 2 lakh each on the medicos to be paid to Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) as compensation, said Geethalakshmi.
