Have you heard of any adoption beyond extreme measure? An American family traveled a long distance just to adopt a dog with a facial deformity.
Sherry Lankston, who lives in Seattle with her two boys, decided to travel to San Diego to adopt a husky with a unique and adorable lopsided grin.
Sherry and her family saw this dog on a social media post by Joy Ollinger, a humane officer with the San Diego County Department of Animal Services, and decided to commute the challenging distance of 2,600 miles (4184 kilometers) to adopt this particular dog.
The family was immediately caught by the dog “Harvey the husky” when they saw the post by Mr. Ollinger.
“I saw that silly grin and knew we had to meet him. It’s been a few years since we could visit our friends and favorite places in San Diego, so why not? Roadtrip,” Lankston stated.
However, the family was aware that before they arrived in San Diego, the dog might have been adopted, but she was willing to take the risk.
“There’s nothing sad about an animal finding its forever home. We’ll be very happy for him and enjoy visiting our friends and soaking up some sun before heading back north,” Lankston said.
The family already had a dog, and they have now added one more to the family. She wrote a post on Facebook sharing the bond between the two, saying that “she’s not terribly amused, but at least tolerant, of the new little brother.” “I’m letting her ride in front with me so they’ve got space to stretch out; this was just after a pee break for treats and water.”
