Eleven Injured In Attacks By A Rabid Dog In Thiruvananthapuram

Recently, eleven people were admitted to the Medical College Hospital on Sunday after getting attacked by a rabid stray dog at Pathanapuram. Those people were admitted to casualty wing with serious injuries.

The injured persons have been identified as Abdul Azeez, 63, Shibu, 36, Madhu, 54, Syam Sam, 23, Mohammad, 22, Saresh Babu, 40, Sakthi, 37, Vasudevan Nair, 75, Doly Thomas,48, Vasumathi Amma, 60, and Arun Thomas, 27. These people are the residents of Gandhi Bhavan near Kundayam, Pathanapuram.

The authorities have warned the residents to be cautious as the rabid dog has bitten other dogs as well.

 As per the statistics  prepared by panchayat directorate, 62 panchayats have submitted projects for Animal Birth Control (ABC) scheme in Kollam. An amount of Rs 1.3 crore has been allotted for the scheme.

As per dog survey

There are 51,661 stray dogs in Kollam district panchayat. However, only 388 dogs were sterilized as on August 19, 2017.

The government has agreed to pay compensation to stray dog bite victims included in the 4th to 9th reports of Justice S. Siri Jagan committee. A total of 112 cases were included in the report.
